Trevor Paque, Certified Rolfer
My first Rolfing session caused a major shift in how I viewed the body. I went in with debilitating back pain and the idea that the body slowly deteriorates over time. I left with a personal solution to my back pain, and just as importantly I learned that it is possible to drastically improve the health and condition of the body.
I love using my body and I am deeply appreciative of how Rolfing has allowed me to continue doing the activities I love. Through Rolfing I overcame numerous major challenges.
Surprisingly, the biggest change I noticed going through my first Rolfing Ten series was a feeling of self-acceptance. I had been doing corrective exercises for years and the idea had gotten into my head that I needed to keep improving my alignment. In that first Ten Series I realized I was okay, just the way I was.
In my second Ten Series I experienced huge structural changes. I could feel the ground with my feet in a way I never could before. My pelvis horizontalized and it gave me the feeling that I had support for my organs. Before it felt like I was trying to lift my organs with my neck. For years my head and neck were stuck in a forward posture. This new support freed my head and neck to move back and up into a neutral posture. I remember walking out after one session and realizing my head was oriented to the sky and not the ground, I could see the stars!
Through this work I overcome many other health issues, including 15 years of knee pain and on and off problems with shoulder function. Each of these experiences has helped me to increase my skill set and better understand the needs of my clients.
For me, Rolfing is a wonderful gift. In 2013 I decided to make a career out of sharing that gift with others. It is a joy going to work every day and helping people to feel better.
